During June 26-28th over 100 chapter leaders from the 37 chapters of the Young Nonprofit Professional Network gathered in the Twin Cities to collaborate, connect and help shape the future of the network. Two of the chapter leaders from YNPN Southern Nevada chapter, Jacob Murdock and Tim Mullin, were able to attend. This three day conference kicked off with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits’ Annual Leadership Conference, where the YNPN chapter leaders interacted and attended sessions from non-profit leaders from across the state of Minnesota. The theme for the conference this year was “Exploring Diverse Voices”. This one day event was very beneficial for the Southern Nevada representatives. The second and third day of the conference was just for YNPN chapter leaders. Time was spent discussing the progress of the different chapters, sessions highlighting best practices, regional discussions and non-profit organization trends.

The conference proved to be very useful as there are many ideas that can be brought back to Southern Nevada. Additionally, the connections made will be helpful in the progression of both the Southern Nevada chapter, but also in expanding the influence of the YNPN network nationwide. It was also great to learn of the influence that the network has across the country. YNPN is a part of many high level discussions and is seen as a great incubator of forward thinking ideas within non-profits as well as pipeline for future leaders of the non-profit sector as well as the public and private sector.

Next year’s conference will take place in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Clinton School of Public Service.
