During June 26-28th over 100 chapter leaders from the 37 chapters of the Young Nonprofit Professional Network gathered in the Twin Cities to collaborate, connect and help shape the future of the network. Two of the chapter leaders from YNPN Southern Nevada chapter, Jacob Murdock and Tim Mullin, were able to attend. This three day conference kicked off with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits’ Annual Leadership Conference, where the YNPN chapter leaders interacted and attended sessions from non-profit leaders from across the state of Minnesota. The theme for the conference this year was “Exploring Diverse Voices”. This one day event was very beneficial for the Southern Nevada representatives. The second and third day of the conference was just for YNPN chapter leaders. Time was spent discussing the progress of the different chapters, sessions highlighting best practices, regional discussions and non-profit organization trends.Read more

Nevada Volunteers wants your organization to grow! Be our guest at the “Building Capacity by Rethinking Volunteers: Service Enterprise” session on May 8. We are offering 10 scholarships, one per organization, to those who are interested and will send an executive director or Board member. This offer is being made to those on our list-serv, national service programs and sites, or others who learn about this through our social media and newsletters. It is only available to Executive Directors, CEOs, or Board members of a nonprofit or agency.
Here are 2 steps to be considered for this scholarship. Step 1: Please email Janet Wright at email@example.com if you would like to be considered for this scholarship. Step 2: Register at: http://lasvegasconference.org/may-8/workshop-c2and indicate that you want to attend Workshop C2 - Building Capacity by Rethinking Volunteers: Service Enterprise. The registration fee for the pre-conference Workshop C2 ($99.93) will be reimbursed "after" the conference. Scholarships will be given based on sequence in completing both Steps 1 and 2.
Research conducted by TCC Group, a national program evaluation firm, demonstrates that service enterprises are more adaptable, sustainable and capable of scaling their impact in comparison to peer organizations and, as a result, are able to more effectively deliver on the social mission of their organization. And yet, less than 15 percent of nonprofits nationwide operate in this manner.
The Executive Director and the Board are the starting point for building a service enterprise. The process is integrated into the strategic planning of the organization. This session will showcase the benefits and challenges that can be expected in reaching the pay off at the end. This session is specifically designed for the administration and board of the nonprofit or agency. If you are interested in leveraging volunteers and their skills to successfully deliver on your nonprofit’s mission, plan to join us at this pre-conference.
